John Terrell
John is an Assistant Pastor to Youth and Family. John and Katie joined the Christ Church family in 2010, at which time John was ordained to the ministry. John and Katie are deeply committed to helping others walk in a closer relationship with the Lord. They strive for people to know what the gospel is and how it impacts one's everyday life. They are active in teaching, discipleship, counseling, and preaching (John). Their focus is the youth and the families of the church, and desire to see the whole church view their family as part of the larger family of Christ.
John Terrell is a Texan who left his heart in San Francisco. He was born in the bay area of California and at the age of ten his family (7 siblings and parents) decided to move to Allen, Texas (just north of Dallas). There he graduated from Allen High School ('94) and University of Texas at Dallas ('01) with a B.S. in Geoscience. He worked at the University of Texas at Dallas in the Information Technology Department as a Desktop Support Technician until 2005. Even though John was Pre-Med in college, he felt God moving him to be a surgeon of the soul rather than a surgeon of the body. In 2005, he enrolled in Westminster Seminary California ( MDiv '08). He met Katie (MAT '08) in the Westminster Bookstore a year later. They began a friendship that led to an engagement on April 9, 2010 and marriage on August 13, 2010. Katie, a Michigan girl, comes from a family deeply committed to the ministry. Three of her four brothers attended Westminster Seminary California. All of her brothers are currently serving as ministers or lay ministers. John and Katie have no children at this time, given that they are newlyweds, but hope to start a family soon.
